Kind words...

"Melinda is a no pressure, go with the flow professional. Both times we've done photos with her we shared a lot of laughs while capturing memories. I would highly recommend her!"~MM

"Melinda has wowed us again! Thank you for capturing us in our favorite spot, for making us laugh and smile, for catching up on the past few months and for giving us these photo memories for years to come. We are forever grateful for you sharing your talent with us and more important, your friendship."~CC
"I had never booked a family photo session before and after our first conversation, I felt at ease. Melinda helped with wardrobe ideas and had a perfect location picked out to keep the kids engaged. There was no feeling of being rushed, the kids had fun and we ended up with an adventure as well as the most beautiful photos. Well worth the investment and I look forward to working with her again."~JK

Hello there! My name is Melinda Knutson and the "K" is not silent so it's pronounced kah-newt-son. It's Norwegian and it came with the man who stole my heart 19 years ago. He's my biggest supporter and you'll often see him with me during sessions, carrying gear, coats, blankets and such.

I have always felt peace in nature, venturing into the woods on my horse was my favorite place to be even as a young child. I'm from Denver so the mountains are a part of me so when Karl and I decided to leave New York and head south, Asheville was the perfect choice. We are now on a mission to see as many waterfalls and hike as many trails as possible! Although, I had to promise not to follow bears to take photos anymore... yes, I did do that.

They say "if you love what you do then you never work a day in your life." I disagree. I love what I do so much that I work hard and I am always learning and growing. That is what is so beautiful about art... there are no limits. One of my goals for 2022 was to see my work published and I had the honor being published in not once but several times. When I got the first email from Shutter Up Magazine, I was so excited!

So how did I end up here, capturing the most beautiful moments for families? I was busy... amazing kids, a career that I loved and then the unexpected happened. After an incident at daycare that caused an injury to my youngest, I made the decision that I would leave my corporate job and open my own daycare business. It was the best decision for our family at the time. After 12 years of being surrounded by amazing little ones, their families being like our own families and watching them grow, I was missing the creative outlet that my former career had filled for me. After some deep thought, I decided that I would take my love of taking photos into a second business. I managed both businesses for a quite a few years before we moved to Asheville, NC in 2021. My many years in customer service and business, along with my many years working with children of all ages have been experiences that I bring to my photography business. It's funny how our paths change and where we end up through the different seasons of our lives.
